It’s safe to say it’s been a while since the last podcast, but you know, we’re trying to be select with who we bring to you! I am now very excited to announce podcast mix 4 from a friend of mine, the UK’s Pedestrian.

Having recently acquired plays from the likes of Gilles Peterson on Radio 1 and having recently remixed for top artists such as Commix, it’s safe to say 2010 is already turning out to be a big year for Pedestrian. The mix features plenty of exclusives from the likes of Commix, Sigha, Gang Colours as well as many more, Enjoy ‘Dance Music for Home Listening’.

Interview, tracklist and mixcloud stream after the jump.

Firstly thanks for doing us this mix, for people who are unfamiliar with your music can you give them a bit of info on your background?

No problem, I really enjoyed compiling the mix for you… I’ve grown up around all kinds of music, I’ve really got to thank my old man for my passion for music, he’s just as obsessed as me and likes all kinds, from Kraftwerk to Bob Dylan. I’m definitely more into melodic music, evoking emotion in music is very important to me… I am also very keen on dance music, my experiences at clubs and nights out at dnb/dubstep/techno events have definite had a massive impact on my output.

So when I first met you, you were predominantly djing drum and bass music. I knew you had a passion for other sounds but when did the ‘switch’ occur and how did it come about?

Well I’ve always been into all sorts but went through a stage of rinsing dnb for a few years and by the end of it I was sick of making it, sitting listening to 170bpm loops for hours everyday just eventually did my head in. it was frustrating because the dnb stuff I was making really wasn’t getting anywhere; I think the genre is so over-saturated these days and there’s no way of competing with the top dogs, it’s so hard to make good dnb these days without trying to sound like your ripping someone off as its all been done before. So I started messing about with the whole ‘future garage’/2step vibe that I had been getting into, I am much happier with my output now and it seems to be being received well so I guess I’ll stick with it for a while…

Definitely for the best I think! So you have recently done a remix for Commix and have some bits getting signed. What is your release schedule looking like for people who are interested in your stuff? Whats in the pipeline?

Well the remix of Commix’s ‘how you gonna feel’ is out mid November on a limited edition 10” which I’m really chuffed about…my track ‘hei poa’ has been selected for the next Brownswood “Bubblers” compilation CD which will be out in October I believe. I’m also involved in a remix project for Kasra’s Critical imprint as well as looking into setting up my own imprint at the moment to release some of the amazing music I’ve been sent as of late, and of course to put out my own stuff. Look out for more info on that!

Damn that all sounds really exciting, ok so before we wrap this up, where can people find out more about yourself and any final words of wisdom?

well this is about as much info as you’ll find on me! but you can catch me at the commix re:call to mind album launch at Rich Mix on 8th October alongside Instra:mental, Pangaea, commix and the mighty marcel dettman, gonna be a killer! As for words of wisdom… all I can say really is do what you feel!
