The beats range from boom-bap to wonky to dubstep with the odd vocal track thrown in for good measure. After giving it a quick listen on their site I knew it wasn’t going to disappoint!

From across the misty hills of San Francisco, we welcome kid Shlohmo with his long-awaited Shlo-Fi EP for release at Error Broadcast. His instant-classic Shlomoshun EP made faces fall earlier this year but this one will boost the cat to a whole new level.

19-years old Shlohmo delivers the soundtrack for the LA aftershow party. His tracks swarm from dirty textures, strange sounds and obscured samples. It’s not Hip Hop what you hear, but the echoes are clearly there: under the blanket the beats are alive and kicking, the compression is awful (as we love it) and from the way Shlohmo arranges his tracks, it is clear what this kid listens to at night.

This one features some of the freshest material ready in our bag for 2010 and some of the best from 2009. Hot on the heels of Pixelord’s “Lucid Freaks pt. 1” comes this eleven-track remix compilation. “Lucid Freaks pt. 2 - The Remixes” features a couple of Russia’s hottest producers, including RBMA -participant DZA, Demokracy, OL and Miracle Libido (the latter two as known from their Monday Jazz tape). The Lord himself reworked a tune exclusively for this record.

From the US, we got AshTreJinkins and Chocolate Girl with their bass-heavy interpretations of Steppa styles. Netherland knob twiddlers Jameszoo and Coco Bryce re-crunk the Pixelord funk, and finally Austria-based producer Abby Lee Tee is dropping in for a mix. One hell of a line-up, you bet. Art comes from Michael Dotson, once again.

So I just got through listening to this and totally enjoying it when I realized I have not yet posted it up! Killer new ish from Pixelord and the Error Broadcast fam once again. Some futuristic sounds and wonky beats make up a really great listen from many artists I had previously not heard of. Don’t sleep, cop it now and if you dig grab the lossless deal from bandcamp. While I’ve been writing this I’ve just put it back on repeat - there we go..

I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying this beat tape for a few weeks now courtesy of the Error Broadcast guys and I’m still finding myself listening to it most days on the iPod! This label never ceases to amaze me with the amount of incredible free and low cost product they have on offer for your ears. Here are a few words…

Fresh off the London Red Bull Music Academy Moscow-based beat elevator DZA is about to make a lot of faces fall in 2010. DZA is central to the How2make crew which ties the loose ends of bass music in Moscow, organises parties and pushes Russian talents. He is the networking type with his hands and heads in different projects at the same time.

So is the graphical identity of DZA, so is his music. Quick, dirty and raw. His 16-track beat tape Five-Finger Discount hijacks you into his kinderzimmer wherein sticker-laden efx pedals render homage to the MPC and DZA is lost behind the screen of his macbook. This tape has detailed textures and beats full of minutiae as well as the heavy bangers.

If you know what’s good for you grab this for yourself now, real raw hard hitting beats! Large up EB once again for more dope content!

We’ve featured material from Comfort Fit before and we’ve become big fans over the years here at YSK. This new track mixes a teeth shattering bass line with a live drum sound that would rattle the chest cavity of even the most hardcore raver! The track comes from his newly released single on Error Broadcast who have been putting out some amazing music for the past few years, if you’re unfamiliar with the label definitely have a snoop round their site as there are many free treats available to you on there. Error Broadcast has done it again, even the artwork makes me happy on this one! Fly Russia brings some of the most raw, hard hitting beats of the year so far into one bite size download, tracks from the likes of DZA, Pixelord, Lapti and various new faces seriously make this one of my favorite releases of late. Can’t pick a favorite track as they are all that good, cop it, have a listen and I guarantee you’ll have this one on repeat!
