After getting a couple plays on both Gilles Peterson’s BBC Radio 1 and Worldwide shows, this edit of the 1980 Charles Earland hit from Belgian DJ/Producer Lefto has surfaced on tinternet for all of us to enjoy for free!

It gives the 1980 funk classic a laid-back, old-school hip hop revamp for all you aging (or not) b-boys/girls.

Random Movement vs Kanye West & Lupe Fiasco - A Good Start Is The Sky (Kasper Bootleg)

I first came across Kasper a couple months back whilst radio-editing music for Crissy Criss’ D&B Mixshow on 1Xtra. Crissy wanted to play a track entitled ‘Nice Dude With Ice Cream’ which is a tasty liquid roller with some N.E.R.D. vocal samples.  The production was on point so I’ve been following the Minneapolis-based producer ever since.

Although it’s a risky game to play, Kasper seems to have a penchant for mixing hip hop vocals with D&B, and yet fortunately for us he has a knack of it not seeming gimmicky. In preparation for an up-coming hip hop vs D&B set, he’s uploaded a few bootlegs to his soundcloud and my favourite is Random Movements versus Kanye West.

Paul White - Goes To Hollywood

The guys at One Handed Music are dropping another limited edition 7 inch vinyl, this time featuring two bootlegs of classic tunes from decades past, courtesy of Paul White. First up is the Velvet Underground reworking, ‘And Nico’, which is as psychedelic as you’d expect, but it is the B-side ‘Goes To Hollywood’, where Paul White’s assured future-boom-bap production skills shine brightest. In a scene where there are arguably a lot of people sounding the same, it’s great to hear a producer who’s found his own sound, which remains evident even when sampling such iconic material.

Remarkably, both tracks are available to download for free, but y’all vinyl heads make sure to get in early to grab one of the 350 physical copies.
