Today we’re starting a new feature here on You’ll Soon Know called Get To Know. Which will aim to showcase up and coming music makers from all over the world.

Today’s Get To Know is My Dry Wet Mess, he got in contact with us over e-mail to share some beats he had up on his soundcloud page and we liked what we heard so it went from there. He started to make beats around the start of the summer after becoming unhappy with his old sound moved into something new, we have two of these beats for you to download above! The first is Where which starts off on a really glitchy tip but gets really nice and bouncy once it gets going! The second track is Blues 251 and is on a similar vibe, very head noddy! Check em out and if you’re in the New York or Baltimore area around the end of the year he’s hoping to do some live shows out there so keep an eye out! Also keep checking his soundcloud and myspace if you like what you hear cause he plans to update them regularly!

This remix ep contains remixes of Busta Rhymes, Amerie, Slim Thug and more… The Amerie and the Slim Thug tracks are my favourite on here, the bassline on the Slim Thug chickz and drogz track is sooo filthy!

You’ll Soon Know is one today and to celebrate this achievement we are announcing an EP that we have started to put together and will be giving to you lucky people for free. The EP will feature some of your favourite beat heads and some lesser known artists who’s music we love and feel you should too! We are giving you a taster with this track from My Dry Wet Mess which will be featured on the EP. Keep your eyes on the site over the next couple of months for it’s full release, there’ll be news when we have it finished and ready to go.

My Dry Wet Mess is set to release his debut album Irrational Alphabet on Daedelus’ Magical Properties imprint on the 26th of October and from what I’ve heard of it so far it’s going to be a banger. Yours Truly is just a taste of what’s to come on the full length, check out the mix he did for our podcast for more of his music (a few tracks of which have made it onto the album) and after that check everything else we’ve posted from him. We got My Dry Wet Mess’ debut album ‘Irrational Alphabet’ (set to drop on Magical Properties) through the e-mail last night and it’s pretty much been on constant rotation all day, such a good album! If you don’t know the name you need to get to know it, a good start is looking through all the stuff we’ve posted from him! Pitchfork are giving away one of the tracks of the album for free, if you’re feeling his sound stretch out the pennies for his album when it drops on the 26th of this month!

My Dry Wet Mess just dropped his debut album ‘Irrational Alphabet’ on Magical Properties. I can not urge you enough to go out and spend your money on it, it’s such a good album from start to finish. He is also going to be playing at Low End Theory in LA tonight and therefore The LA Times Music Blog is giving away this remix he did of Flying Lotus’ PieFace off the Pattern-Grid World EP. My Dry Wet Mess gives the track a whole new flavour, giving it a laid back wonky vibe, proper head nod stuff! If you’re anywhere near LA get yourself down to Low End Theory tonight to see him perform, I’ve heard he puts on a pretty dope live show!

Our first EP has been a long time in the making and has been pushed back a few times due to moving houses, dissertations, new jobs and all that jazz, but it’s finally here! It should hopefully be the first of many releases as we’re are definitely trying to make it a regular thing. We have always been keen to showcase producers, MCs, bands, beat makers and general musicians who’s music we love and feel that you should know about! We hand picked all the artists on this EP and they are either up and coming in the scene or have recently become more established.

Friends of Friends, who help spread the word about some of our favourite artists, have today released this gem of a compilation. They have enlisted the likes of Daedelus, Shlohmo, My Dry Wet Mess, DNTEL, Strangeloop and more to remix/mash-up/mangle some of our favourite pop songs from artists such as The Beach Boys, A-Ha, Prince, The Spice Girls, etc.

In an attempt to showcase some of our favorite people, Friends of Friends put out a call to a whole slew of producers. The request was simple… “choose a song from any era of popular culture to be source material of a song for our ‘Pop Massacre’ compilation.”
