Pixelord - Lucid Freaks

Anyway, this EP if from an artist new to their roster, Pixelord from Moscow. I’ve not heard anything from him before but after this EP I hope to be hearing more soon. Full of fresh 8bit beats, I’m a big fan of the Cybernator track.

Hot on the heels of Pixelord’s “Lucid Freaks pt. 1” comes this eleven-track remix compilation. “Lucid Freaks pt. 2 - The Remixes” features a couple of Russia’s hottest producers, including RBMA -participant DZA, Demokracy, OL and Miracle Libido (the latter two as known from their Monday Jazz tape). The Lord himself reworked a tune exclusively for this record.

From the US, we got AshTreJinkins and Chocolate Girl with their bass-heavy interpretations of Steppa styles. Netherland knob twiddlers Jameszoo and Coco Bryce re-crunk the Pixelord funk, and finally Austria-based producer Abby Lee Tee is dropping in for a mix. One hell of a line-up, you bet. Art comes from Michael Dotson, once again.

So I just got through listening to this and totally enjoying it when I realized I have not yet posted it up! Killer new ish from Pixelord and the Error Broadcast fam once again. Some futuristic sounds and wonky beats make up a really great listen from many artists I had previously not heard of. Don’t sleep, cop it now and if you dig grab the lossless deal from bandcamp. While I’ve been writing this I’ve just put it back on repeat - there we go..

Pixelord was kind enough to send us over a promo copy of his and Acid Mafia’s joint EP on Hyperboloid Records. He was also kind enough to allow us to give away one of his tracks from the EP, Goomba Trip. It’s probably my favourite track from the EP, proper head nob beats with a little skweee thrown in for good measure. I have to say that I LOVE the original track so much, and I always thought It had a lack of beats bass and bleeps there, so a added it and made this remix..

Well, to say the last couple weeks have been busy would be an understatement! Y’all know how it is when it’s this time of year, things to do, places to go etc, and because of this YSK has been a tiny bit slow. But.. we are back with force today with something from our buddies Leonard Dstroy and Pixelord!

This remix is arp-fucking-tastic and heavy hitting to the core, you should already know these two guys should not be slept on! Once again collated by the one and only Error Broadcast the track will be featured on Pixelords forthcoming EP ‘FISH TOUCH’, I for one can’t wait!

Another compilation from another relatively new label, this time Saturate Records. Saturate is a German based label specialising in glitchy, wonky bass music who’s previous releases we’ve featured before (such as heRobust - Albumin). Most of the artists involved in this compilation I’d not heard of before but then here are also track from firm favourites such as Pixelord and Krampfhaft. Definitely a few names to keep an eye out for! The release is name your price so as always if you’re feeling it send the label some of your hard earned to show your appreciation.

Fancy Mike - Sigma Chi Primavera

We’ve been big fans of Fancy Mike here ever since we were first sent a promo of his Madison Square Gardner album (which I’ve just found out was also a free download so grab that too, here) it’s pure heat!

King Deluxe, a relatively new label based in British Columbia who have put out a few nice releases, are giving away the 192 version of the album for free but there is also a 320 for purchase if you’re feeling it and want to play it out!.

The album features remixes and collaborations with other YSK favourites such as Pixelord and Constrobiz. I know Tim is a particularly big fan of Pixelord’s remix of Ramachandran so much so he had to rewind it at the last Streets of Beige and has gone on record as saying “BIGUP TO PIXELORD AND FANCY MIKE! OM GOMG OGMGOGMG”. But yeah, both his albums are bloody good so go and grab them, you wont be disappointed.

Remember this epic DZA release from a little while back? Well it’s now been remixed as part of a new release from the one and only Error Broadcast! As always some of the tracks are free as a 192 but you can head over to their web store to grab a limited edition tape, or the full package.

I’ve been lucky enough to have had this run through my speakers for the past couple weeks and as always when EB are involved, the results are incredible. Tracks are remixed by the likes of Pixelord, Aeed, HeRobust, Dynooo, Montgomery Clunk, Demokracy and many more, who you should be familiar with if you’re read this blog before. Check the freebie above, love it and then go cop the HQ to smash in the clubs!

We posted about the Mad-Hop project at the start of this year and we’ve been really enjoying their output as the year has progressed. Today they released their lastest offering, Volume 3, full of that good music we love to hear.

Artists involved in the volume include YSK favourites Pixelord, B-Ju, Amassadeurs, Powell, Huess and many more. We’ll be sure to keep a close eye on Mad-Hop and look forward to what the future holds for them!
