I have been jamming away to Pretty Lights older albums “Taking Up Your Precious Time” and “Filling up the skies” for a couple of years now, beautiful melodies, soulful samples, epic build ups and dope beats make them some of my favorite albums to date. So I was juiced to see they just dropped their new album Passing By Behind Your Eyes on October 6th which as ever, is Free on their website! (Click here to visit their site and download previous album as mentioned above). So far for me it’s sounding like it’s going to be another classic! If you are into beats and instrumental hip-hop this is probably one of the best things you will download for free this year. Enjoy!

It’s that time again! Today Pretty Lights dropped the second EP in the trilogy of releases for this year, and as always, it’s totally free! Definitely one of my favorite artists, as I’m sure is for any of you who have heard their music previously. Once again this release comes full of brilliant, brilliant music and I cannot recommend this enough, it’s a 10/10 once again. Support this guy and check out the back catalog on their site it seriously is epic stuff!

So myself and fellow YSK’er Rich are both in London right now after checking out an amazing Streets of Beige last night. After a heavy night we decided to put on this fresh new album to help start the day with a bump!
We are both massive fans of Pretty Lights and Alex B respectfully, so to see a new release from him under his new guise ‘Paper Diamond’ on their label came as a real treat. The sound has a quite similar to the upbeat vibe that Pretty Lights play with some nice twists. Heavy basslead beats with synths scattered between make for some serious head-nodding. Definitely one of my picks of the year so far, great, great release, looking forward to more from this label!

One of my favorite musical experiences ever was seeing Eliot Lipp & Lipp Service at Low End in both NYC and LA. I’m a huge fan of his work especially the Beamrider LP, but he has been on such a consistent level for so many years. Needless to say I was pretty stoked when we got sent over a fresh remix by Mux Mool a few days ago. Turns out after lagging for a few days with work and not reading the email properly that it was part of a full release titled ‘Brolabs’, where homies had remixed a bunch of Eliots tunes. Remixers include Kelpe, who you know is fucking dope, Mux Mool as I mentioned, as well as Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, Lee 123, Subtitle, Paper Diamond, Deathface and a couple more.
So yeah this needs to be downloaded right now, grab it, turn up your speakers and enjoy! Let’s hope Eliot has some newness cookin as last time I caught him at the Roxy in February the beats we’re sounding epic.
