From across the misty hills of San Francisco, we welcome kid Shlohmo with his long-awaited Shlo-Fi EP for release at Error Broadcast. His instant-classic Shlomoshun EP made faces fall earlier this year but this one will boost the cat to a whole new level.
19-years old Shlohmo delivers the soundtrack for the LA aftershow party. His tracks swarm from dirty textures, strange sounds and obscured samples. It’s not Hip Hop what you hear, but the echoes are clearly there: under the blanket the beats are alive and kicking, the compression is awful (as we love it) and from the way Shlohmo arranges his tracks, it is clear what this kid listens to at night.
Solanaceous and surreal music from the point Burial and Fly Lo let off.

We’re big fans of Shlohmo here at YSK and have been since his Shlomoshun EP dropped last year, Hot Boxing the Cockpit is still a favourite track of mine! Anyway… he is set to release the Shlomoshun Delux EP and Camping EP together on one CD for the people that missed out on the separate releases. To get the hype up again he is giving away ‘Sippy Cup’ which appears on the CD, it’s a proper head nodder once that bassline drops, gotta love the plinky plonk percussion too!

I’d never heard of Jed and Lucia until this track was posted up for free on XLR8R yesterday, turns out they make some nice experimental folky type music, if you’re into that you should definitely check them out. Shlohmo takes this track in a whole new direction making good use of the haunting vocals and adding his usual feel to the track. I shouldn’t really need to say anything else about Shlohmo but if you’ve not heard the name check our previous posts from him!

Friends of Friends, who help spread the word about some of our favourite artists, have today released this gem of a compilation. They have enlisted the likes of Daedelus, Shlohmo, My Dry Wet Mess, DNTEL, Strangeloop and more to remix/mash-up/mangle some of our favourite pop songs from artists such as The Beach Boys, A-Ha, Prince, The Spice Girls, etc.
In an attempt to showcase some of our favorite people, Friends of Friends put out a call to a whole slew of producers. The request was simple… “choose a song from any era of popular culture to be source material of a song for our ‘Pop Massacre’ compilation.”
