I came across this Soulection Compilation a few days ago while searching the net for free music. The list of artists involved was insane, beats from many YSK favourites including Ahnnu, AFTA-1, eLan, Dibiase, Take, Ohbliv and more. I don’t know much about Soulection themselves other than that it’s a website but hopefully there’ll be more compliations of this calibre heading our way.

Seriously cannot believe they are giving this track away FOR FREE! I’ve had the Nosaj Thing - Drift Remixes EP released on Alpha Pup (again strength to strength and all that jazz) for a around a week now and it’s a more than solid release. However, Take’s remix of Light #1 was by far the most stand out track in my opinion and I’ve been giving it mad plays this past week, takes the original (which was also dope) to a whole new level of dopeness! Anyway LA Weekly are giving it away for free and if you don’t download it you are an idiot or you already have the release. Speaking of which, if you don’t you should go out and drop the pennies on the rest of the EP once you’ve had this track on repeat a fair few times while dancing around your room like a mad man! …but yeah to summarise I really like this song!

From the forthcoming Take album entitled ‘Only Mountain’ comes a preview track entitled ‘Neon Beams’ (dropping on Alpha Pup in April).
The title says it all really. Luminous synths scatter, split and collide with arpeggiated bass, as crunchy, rusty breaks and hats skid out of control over pulsating LFOs. ‘Neon Beams’ has a controlled madness which is as beautiful as it is overpowering.
This is some serious future funk right here. I’ve not heard anything else from ‘Only Mountains’ yet, but Neon Beams has me buzzing in anticipation.

A great live set which I got to enjoy whilst out in LA and at various nights in the UK as well as some incredible releases have made his music a must in my iTunes and on deck.
